Jason Faulkner MA, BSc Hons, MInstLM -  Branch Manager

I have joined the Shields team after completing a 22 year career in the armed forces. During this time I have continuously developed my skills to become a highly Professional Manager. My areas of expertise include: Facilities Management, Project Management and Most recently Operations Management. I am very process driven and customer focused, enjoying successfully improving process delivery in a number of high octane environments.

As the Branch Manager, I now oversee all aspects of the lettings process from the Lenton Student Homes office and I am continually working to improve the service for both tenants and Landlords, by implementing new systems to enhance the service that we provide. My role includes interaction with Nottingham City Council on matters relating to compliance issues and directly with Landlords regarding improvements to their properties to ensure an ever increasing standard of accommodation in line with the UNIPOL/DASH Code.

My family and I are originally from Nottingham. I am very passionate about this city and I have a strong geographical knowledge. I have a BSc (Hons) in Social Science and Social policy, this included Understanding Cities and Town Planning. I also have a Masters Degree in Business Management, which has provided a sound commercial awareness. In addition I also have experience of successfully developing a number of my own properties.

It is my intention to continually improve within the lettings field, develop my team and continue to grow our presence.

Marc Taylor -  Lettings Manager/Valuer

I joined the Shields Student Homes team in February 2011 having previously been the Lettings Manager for a city centre residential lettings agency which I had helped to start up from inception.

My previous role involved many of the aspects that I now deal with at Shields & Co. My main focus is to provide an excellent level of service to my clients and in so doing, win new business for the company. I enjoy my work and feel confident in this sector of the market which can be quite challenging and always busy.

I am a Nottingham boy born and bred so I know this area very well and I am well placed to advise on the local market.

I have a great deal of experience within the lettings industry and all my working life has been centred around; sales, management, IT and customer service, all of which come in handy within my current role.

Tom Bramley BSc (Hons) -  Property Manager

I joined Shields & Co in August 2010 as Property Manager for the Shields Student Homes team.

My role entails managing and co-ordinating maintenance works for our ever expanding portfolio of student accommodation; liaising with Landlords, tenants and contractors alike to ensure a swift conclusion to any maintenance related matters.

Having grown up in Nottingham and attended Nottingham Trent University here I am not only very familiar with the area but I also understand student expectations relating to their accommodation.

I studied Real Estate Management at Nottingham Trent University, specialising in Commercial and Industrial Property with an interest towards Sustainable Developments and Services and my degree course incorporated a year’s work experience in the commercial and industrial sector. I graduated as a Commercial Property Surveyor in 2009 and have since transferred my skill set to the residential market in which I hope to establish a long term career.

Laura Barker -  Lettings Co-ordinator

I joined Shields Student Homes in August 2010.

As the Lettings Co-ordinator I work alongside the Lettings Valuer in all aspects of our letting service including; arranging and conducting viewings with the students, liaising between the students and Landlords to negotiate rents and overseeing the signing of Tenancy Agreements.

I am the first point of contact for anyone either visiting or calling the office and I pride myself in providing a friendly and professional service.

I have extensive experience in customer service and as the newest member of the Shields Student Homes team I am looking forward to gaining further experience and knowledge of the residential lettings market.

Daniel Seely -  Lettings agent

I have been working with Shields since September 2011, dealing with the ever growing demand for student properties across Nottingham. As a student myself, I know what students are looking for when searching for their next home, and so am well placed to advise them when house-hunting to find the best place possible for everyone I deal with. My work involves me conducting viewings, arranging signings, liaising with both current and prospective tenants, and generally working with the lettings side of the company and our wide portfolio of student properties.

I moved to Nottingham upon starting a law degree at Nottingham Trent University in 2009 and am very enthusiastic about the city and the many attractions and opportunities open to students. I am hoping to continue to stay here after completing my studies. My legal studies have provided me with a wide set of skills and knowledge which I have transferred to my work with Shields, and I pride myself on providing the best service I can for all the tenants and landlords we deal with.

Ian Barlow -  Maintenance

I have been working with Shields since 2007 and you will often see me dashing about in my van, attending to the everyday maintenance issues that may arise within our ever growing portfolio of Student and Residential lettings properties.

I was born and bred in Nottingham so I know the area like the back of my hand. I’ve had 10 years of previous experience in the Property Maintenance sector working for the likes of Nottingham City Homes and large construction companies.

When I’m not working I’m a bit of a gardening fanatic and take great pride in growing my own fruit and vegetables.
