British Gas has put match-funding in place following the Government's unveiling of its new boiler scrappage scheme in the Pre-Budget Report on 9 December 2009. The scheme opens on 6 January 2010.

Sam Laidlaw, Chief Executive of Centrica (the owner of British Gas), considers it important for old, inefficient energy technologies to be replaced if the UK is to meet its tough carbon reduction targets.

The Government's boiler scrappage scheme will help the replacement of the country's four million old and inefficient domestic boilers with new boilers, which can improve energy efficiency by up to 30 per cent. New boilers reportedly help lower fuel bills by as much as £235 a year.

If you have a G-rated boiler or below, you may well be entitled to £800 towards the cost of getting a new energy-efficient boiler installed. For more information contact the Shields & Co offer or visit British Gas at www.britishgas.co.uk.
